South West grades held at Melksham- April 3rd.
Last Weekend ten of The Academy gymnastics took part in the South West grades held at Melksham. Each gymnast passed their respective grade, many of them passing with distinctions.
On Saturday 3rd April, Poppy Wynn entered Compulsory Grade 2 and maintained her rank of being the best gymnast in her
age group in the south west, by top scoring her grade with ease.
Sophie Jameson and Lucy Brett entered Compulsory Grade 3.
Sophie came first with the grace and style that we are familiar with, while Lucy pulled out the performance of her life to
come fourth, and join her team mate in the forth coming National finals.
On the Sunday it was Maisie Dodds and Jessics Pointon turn to impress the judges with their grace and elegance in club
grade 4.
Maisie won with Jess coming fourth. Then, in Club Grade 3 Charlotte Bennett won, Ruby Harrold second even with
two falls on beam, and Lauren Brown 4th. These three gymnasts competed with such confidence that they showed that they
were the best gymnasts on the day, and dominated the places in the south west team. In club grade 2, Darian Strawford
did a costly mistake on floor, but finished in a respectable eighth place and in Club Grade 1 Coralie Feltham, impressed
the judges coming third, with a much improved routine.
Well done girls and good luck in your British finals!
